At around 6pm on Saturday BBC Scotland decided to report the ‘news’ that Sports Direct had won an injunction against Sevco preventing them from proceeding with a new retail and distribution contract.
Around 18 hours earlier internet bampots were made aware of the story broken by Phil MacGiollabhain. Throughout Saturday it was dissected and debated across social media.
It wasn’t rumour, it wasn’t a tip from an ‘insider’ it was solid evidence produced from the High Court. Very detailed with all of the arguments, and the verdict neatly summarised. Dates and everything.
Yeah @Pmacgiollabhain told us that yesterday ffs

It is obviously not an exclusive if the story is broken by a Fenian.

They seem to be involved in more court action these days than Andy Murray.

As they jostle for the role of chief cheerleader for the Gerrard Revolution it seems that the state broadcaster is very reluctant to present straightforward news. Unpleasant news.
Were they afraid of upsetting someone, did a news outlet not want to be seen to be breaking news?
Two days earlier BBC Scotland were happy to promote Dave King’s claim that he was being bullied by the Takeover Appeal Panel. No follow up questions appear to have been permitted, or asked.
Since Sevco announced in 2015 that media facilities had been withdrawn to Chris McLaughlin, BBC Scotland have been incredibly supportive and sympathetic to the tribute act.
With a cast of former Ibrox players to call on every Revolution has been talked up with barely a look under the bonnet at the regulation breaches and mountain of debt being run up.
There are definite signs that the engine is about to explode, with Steven Gerrard on board and the club chairman afraid to set foot in the UK it is going to be spectacular.
When the administrators are called in at Ibrox you can be sure who’ll be the most reluctant to carry the news- and apply the best spin possible about good times around the corner.
It’s what the state broadcaster does best of all.
