Leigh Griffiths’ return to first team action will be delayed until next week’s trip to Norway.

The striker missed both matches against Alashkert but was pictured back in training today.

With Mossa Dembele out for a couple of weeks having Griffiths available again would be a big boost for tomorrow’s match with Rosenborg but Brendan Rodgers won’t take any chances with the former Hibs striker.

Getting a full week of training in before he returns to competitive action should ensure that there are no more set-backs for Griffiths.

Last season was dogged by calf, hamstring and other muscular problems which restricted him to 20 starting appearances and 13 goals.

Griffiths made a telling contribution as a substitute last season away to Rosenborg, coming off the bench before James Forrest scored the only goal of the tie.

Four years after joining Celtic from Wolves Griffiths is two short from joining the elite group of players to have scored 100 goals for the hoops.
