Celtic will monitor the fitness of Moussa Dembele round the clock as they prepare to face Rosenborg in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.

As Odsonne Edouard was being substituted midway through last night’s win over Alashkert his fellow striker sat down and was replaced after treatment by Ryan Christie.

It was a moment of concern for the Celtic support after Dembele had tormented the Alashkert defence for over an hour.

Moussa was tight at the back of his leg so we just have to assess that tomorrow and over the next couple of days,” Brendan Rodgers told The Sun.

He’s as fit as he has been at this stage of the season, so we are hoping it is just a tightness and that he’ll be okay.”

If Dembele is anywhere short of 100% fit he’ll sit out the home tie with Rosenborg leaving Edouard on his own up front.

The twin French strikers have carried a real threat in Celtic’s early season matches but switching back to a 4-2-3-1 formation shouldn’t cause any upset.

Rodgers has a number of options that he could bring into the side with Tom Rogic likely to be involved next week after his delayed return due to World Cup duty with Australia.
