Less than 24 hours after their latest furious statement the SPFL have rejected Sevco’s demand that Murdoch MacLennan resigns as chairman.

With two new issues threatening to sink the Gerrard Revolution the Ibrox club switched into deflection mode yesterday after slight rumblings of discontent among their own supporters.

Rather than respond to a Contempt of Court charge served on Dave King or the lifetime contract arranged with Sports Direct Sevco decided to play on paranoia.

Comments made in conversation by MacLennan while working for the Daily Record has alarmed the club that has a chairman who paid £40m to stay out of a South African jail.

With club policy being guided by another former Daily Record high flyer Sevco called on the SPFL to sack MacLennan over a non-executive post he has with an Irish firm that includes two Celtic shareholders among it’s investors.

This morning the Evening Times reports an SPFL spokesman saying:

We note the contents of Rangers’ latest press release. The board has already made its strong and overwhelming support for the chairman very clear and we consider the matter closed.”

Sevco haven’t commented on the Conflict of Interest that Douglas Park has as the second biggest shareholder in Hamilton Accies or with his secret deal to provide Celtic with coach travel.
