Marinos Ouzounidis has already been swotting up on Celtic.

The AEK Athens boss watched both legs of the games against Rosenborg and wasn’t surprised to see the Scottish champions come out on top.

While Celtic have been in at the deep end against Rosenborg and Alashkert, AEK have been in pre-season mode trying to prepare for Wednesday’s first leg tie in Glasgow.

Under Brendan Rodgers the hoops have become masters of the qualification process with the Irishman aiming to reach the group phase for the third season running.

I always expected Celtic to get through against Rosenborg so that comes as no surprise they made it,” Ouzounidis told The Sun.

We have studied a lot of footage of Celtic. They are obviously a good side who get into the Group Stages, but we certainly think it is possible to beat them.

At the moment, we are not as sharp as we could be because we have not played a competitive match and that’s a disadvantage to us.

I think Celtic have really improved in the past couple of years because of their manager Brendan Rodgers. He is a very good coach but we are ready to deal with them.

We were always going to have play good teams to get through to the group stages and Celtic are just another challenge for us.”

While Celtic have had the benefit of competitive matches they have been picking up injuries as well as trying to bring players upto speed that spent June at the World Cup Finals in Russia.

Leigh Griffiths is more likely to be fit than Moussa Dembele for the AEK ties with Jozo Simunovic available after suspension.

Tom Rogic and Mikael Lustig are expected to start Saturday’s match against Livingston after appearing as second half substitutes away to Rosenborg.
