The rift between Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic board moved into a third day as the hoops boss faced the media this afternoon.

On Tuesday Rodgers expressed his frustration at the lack of transfer activity with Odsonne Edouard the only player brought in during the transfer window.

In the build up to the 1-1 draw with AEK Athens BBC reporter Chris McLaughlin reported that the Celtic board were unhappy at the comments of their manager.

That led to the inevitable follow up today with The Sun reporting:

Asked if the ambitions of the Parkhead board match his, Rodgers said: “I wouldn’t answer that. It’s private.”

For the first time in two years there is a clear division between the Celtic board and their manager.

Some board members may be envious of the esteem that their manager is held in but in every area Rodgers has delivered.

If they are in any doubt they should check out the volume of season ticket renewals prior to appointing the Irishman in May 2016.
