Why there is no change in Celtic’s transfer prospect despite English window ‘closing’

|

Supporters hopeful of a change in Celtic’s transfer activity when the English window closed at 5pm today are in for a disappointment.

While permanent transfers can’t be made clubs are still able to complete loan deals until the end of this month, keeping them in line with FIFA’s transfer window.

It had been anticipated that Celtic would be able to pick up on players left over at English sides but the hoops will have to compete with other clubs in the EPL and Championship for new faces.

English clubs will be able to take players on loan until January then convert the move into a permanent deal.

The one issue in favour is that foreign clubs can no longer hope to pick up a windfall from an EPL club and are likely to have a more realistic approach to transfer fees.

So far Odsonne Edouard is the only player that Celtic have paid a transfer fee for, Emilio Izaguirre and Daniel Arzani are expected to sign before the weekend, Izaguirre on a two year contract and Arzani on a two year loan from Manchester City..
