Patrick Roberts looks like moving to France for the next stage of his career.

With a proposed move to Huddersfield Town falling through on transfer deadline day the winger will have to move outside of England in his search for first team football.

Brendan Rodgers recently name checked the England youth internationalist but with Daniel Arzani expected to join Celtic it seems that Roberts’ future will be elsewhere.

According to a report in The Sun Bordeaux, Rennes and St Etienne have all shown interest in the 21-year-old with Spanish side Girona, part owned by City another option.

Roberts first joined Celtic in January 2016 under Ronny Deila but it was under Brendan Rodgers that the ability he had first displayed at Fulham began to be realised.

Celtic managed to arrange another season long loan last August but a three month absence due to a pulled hamstring halted his progress.

With new prospects such as Arzani emerging into the City system Roberts will have to look elsewhere for a club to develop the skills that made him a big favourite with Celtic supporters.
