Brendan Rodgers will have more of his big hitters available for Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens.

With the World Cup Finals now a distant memory Tom Rogic and Mikael Lustig are ready to do their bit for the cause of reaching the group phase of the Champions League for the third season running.

After trying out a system in pre-season that involved two strikers the injury to Moussa Dembele has made that option less attractive.

Rogic’s return simply gives the hoops another potent option, on his day the Australian is almost unplayable, especially when he takes possession within 40 yards of goal looking to arrow the ball net-bound.

So far this season Celtic have been playing with greater pace, the new surface at Celtic Park is a big factor but the players look capable of running the legs off any opposition.

With AEK three weeks away from their first domestic match Celtic will want to make them suffer with the hoops having five competitive games in the tank before kick off time.

This fixture barely needed any extra incentive but it got it with the draw for the Play Off round- whoever comes out on top over two legs won’t encounter a tougher test against Malmo or Vidi.
