Brendan Rodgers has refused to rule out a move for Harold Moukoudi.

The Le Havre defender was reported to be a £5m target for Celtic as a solution to the club’s problems in central defence.

Moukoudi has been linked with moves to West Ham and Burnley earlier this summer but with five days left to go before the transfer window closes Celtic’s need to strengthen is urgent.

Asked about the possibility of signing the Le Havre defender Rodgers told Radio Scotland: “I know of the player but there is nothing close in that.”

Rodgers was then asked if players would be coming in before Friday and added: “I’m sure that it will, yeah. It is something that we’ve wanted to do, we’ll see, we’ll take it this week. It’s a busy week for us, we have three games this week and obviously the last week of the transfer but we hope we can supplement the squad with some new faces.”

Dedryck Boyata was recalled to the Celtic side that faced Hamilton Accies and ended up scoring the only goal of the game.

The win lifts Celtic into second place in the SPFL Premiership table after three matches with today’s clean sheet the first recorded in seven matches.

Celtic are next in action on Thursday against Suduva in the Europa League play-off but attention will be centred off the pitch on transfer activity- incoming and out going.
