Obsessed Kris Boyd has made a blistering attack on Lee Congerton- questioning whether Celtic’s Head of Recruitment can justify his salary!

Celtic’s activities during the transfer window have raised a number of questions from supporters but Leigh Griffiths hasn’t been questioning what is going on with Kilmarnock’s transfer business.

It seems that a player at another club has been granted licence to criticise every aspect of Celtic’s business without any censure from the football authorities.

Last week, on the eve of a Betfred Cup tie against Sevco, Boyd felt the need to publish details of wage rises given to Celtic players over the last 12 months which came with a warning about spending outstripping income.

There is plenty of speculation in dressing rooms about what opponents are earning, almost always it’s exaggerated with no more than half a dozen people knowing the true level of earnings.

This week Boyd has decided to get much more specific- with no knowledge of Celtic’s scouting/recruitment process other than the second hand accounts he has made a number of accusations about a key employee.

What, exactly, is this guy’s role at Celtic Football Club,” he asks of Congerton in The Sun.

He is, of course, listed as their Head of Recruitment — but why is there a wage being spent on him?

On the face of it, all you need to do is have a good game against Celtic and you’ll either be linked with a move or you’ll end up signing for the Parkhead club.

I suppose that rules me out but, seriously, look at the facts. Jonny Hayes, Lewis Morgan, Scott Bain and Jack Hendry all impressed Brendan Rodgers when they lined up against his Celtic side.”

Hopefully he added: “And while Rodgers is scrambling around, desperate to bring new faces in, don’t rule out others heading in the opposite direction.

I’m told, for example, that Olivier Ntcham’s agent is aware of interest from Porto — and they want a deal done before the window closes.

What a hammer blow that would be to Celtic. Also, Moussa Dembele will sooner or later be offered another chance to leave Celtic Park.

With no Champions League football to keep him entertained this season, he too could ultimately be tempted away from the club.

These are difficult times for Celtic and Rodgers in particular.”

Perhaps next weekend Boyd will turn his attention to why Steven Gerrard was given less money to spend that Pedro Caixinha, followed by an analysis of this week’s share issue and the problems over the Hummel retail contract.
