Willie Miller has trashed Charlie Adam’s claim that Sevco are the main threat to Celtic’s title hopes.

Adam came up with the same predictable nonsense as has been peddled over the last three close season’s about the big challenge coming from Ibrox.

A big name manager, big name signings, winning mentality and all the usual buzzwords were used by the Stoke City midfielder ahead of the first SPFL fixture of the season.

Miller has watched Aberdeen finish second four seasons running despite the background noise from Ibrox and a failed attempt to lure Derek McInnes away from Pittodrie last autumn.

Responding to the claims from Adam the former Aberdeen manager told the BBC: “We’ve heard this every season with no real thought behind it.

“They’ve not managed to achieve it and they’ve been disrespectful to Aberdeen, who’ve been the main challengers to Celtic for the last four seasons.

“The last two seasons, Rangers players have come out and stated they will be second, only to get egg on their face. They need to get a bit of humility back.

“Until they actually prove it on the park, I think they should keep quiet and show a bit more respect to other clubs that have been run magnificently over the years.”

Sevco have been linked with a loan move for Jack Simpson of Bournemouth with no transfer fees paid out for players since the signing of Connor Goldston on June 13.
