On Saturday morning Kris Boyd was telling Sun readers that a defeat from Sevco would be Brendan Rodgers’ last taste of the Glasgow derby.

By mid afternoon on Sunday the occasional Kilmarnock striker was munching humble pie as Celtic once again crushed Sevco.

It was a domineering display from Brendan Rodgers’ side as they destroyed the latest revolution to come out of Ibrox.

Boyd had bought into the myth in full, believing that the rookie former Liverpool youth team coach could lead the People to the promised land and kill off the devastating thought of TEN-in-a-row.

After a 90 minute lesson fro Celtic the reality was that at least they never lost five goals this time!

Looking at Rangers I think that it’s a step in the right direction,” he told Sky Sports as he sat with Kris Commons after the match.

They came here, maybe in years gone past Rangers teams would have folded, it would have been three or four.

It’s still a defeat, you can’t get over that but there is a bit of positivity that they can take from the performance.”

Boyd failed to mention that Sevco now sit in seventh place in the SPFL Premiership table, two points adrift of Kilmarnock after four matches.

With Europa League commitments coming up the autumn promises to take it’s toll on the tribute act with just Gareth McAuley coming in to bolster Gerrard’s squad.
