The Tommy Burns story on BBC Alba was met with universal approval by Celtic fans and many others.
Telling the tale of the boy from the Calton who spent 15 years playing for Celtic before going on to manage the club provided quite a challenge.
Humbling to see so many nice words for the Tommy Burns film. Exceptionally lucky to have him for as long as we did. To all the dads out there , whether your a Celtic player or a tradesman your someone’s hero. Thank you again @MargotMcCuaig

The young team have lights, standing sections, dominance, pumping the Huns everytime we play, champions league and loads of other shite. They didn’t have Tommy Burns and the centenary season. God bless him. ????

Tommy Burns and the team bus going up the Gallagate after we won the cup in ‘95. Absolutely fucking magical memories. Now sadly, many of our support take it for granted. Can’t mind what pub we were in but every pub emptied to surround the bus.

I’m reading this morning that the @KilmarnockFC & @CelticFC fans may pay tribute to #TommyBurns tomorrow during the 51st minute of the game. Let’s do it! It would be a beautiful thing. In tears just thinking about it. I’ll be applauding a special man & his wonderful family.

Highlighting the three central parts of his life- family, faith and football- the film highlighted the remarkable career that Burns enjoyed mixed up with comments from fans, family members and former team-mates.
The fiery young man that broke into the Celtic side in the seventies matured into a diplomatic figure at the new look Celtic Park but the passions remained as he gave his all while expecting no less from those around him.
There are many testaments to Burns’ life with the creation of the Lennoxtown Training Centre a lasting tribute to the passion of the east end boy who trained at the Barrowfield before making the journey along London Road to star at Celtic Park.
