James Forrest has agreed a new four year contract with Celtic.

The 27-year-old follows Kieran Tierney, Kris Ajer, Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths in signing new contracts as the hoops put together the backbone of a side to stick together for the next couple of seasons.

Forrest was out of contract at the end of this season but hasn’t made any fuss or been angling to get away.

Neil Lennon gave the winger his debut while he was caretaker manager and was grateful for Forrest’s contribution in the 3-3 draw at Kilmarnock in October 2011 when the Irishman was preparing his resignation at half-time with Celtic trailing by three goals.

Forrest lost his way under Ronny Deila but was given a new three year contract by Brendan Rodgers in July 2016, going on to play a major role in the double treble success.

Alongside Scott Brown and Mikael Lustig Forrest is the only player to have been involved in all seven of Celtic’s current title winning run.
