Celtic fans reacted with fury as Bobby Madden denied the hoops a clear cut penalty when Scott McKenna felled Odsonne Edouard during today’s match against Aberdeen.

The East Kilbride based whistler has a long history of honest mistakes culminating in his performance in the March 2017 Glasgow derby when he allowed Clint Hill to assault Leigh Griffiths in the closing minutes of a 1-1 draw.

Even with his background fans inside the stadium were amazed when McKenna launched himself at the striker just inside the penalty box following a brilliant through ball by Griffiths.

Both feet were raised in a dangerous fashion with Edouard requiring extensive treatment. A penalty, and in this instance a red card would be awarded in most countries.

Edouard was replaced by Scott Sinclair with the former Aston Villa man scoring the only goal of the game with a back healed effort in the 63rd minute.

The win lifts Celtic into fourth place behind Hearts, Hibs and Kilmarnock who all won today.

Celtic are next in action on Thursday away to RB Salzburg in the Europa League followed by another trip to St Johnstone on Sunday as they attempt to make up ground on Hearts..
