Neil Lennon was struck on the face by a coin tonight as Hibs drew 0-0 with Hearts at Tynecastle.

The match was littered with incidents that brought shame on the home club just days after a Hearts fan smashed a 70-year-old woman in the face with a bottle.

Despite it being ‘one of our own’ there has been no comment or condemnation from Hearts.

In 2011 Hearts fan John Wilson assaulted Lennon in the away dug out at Tynecastle, no action was taken against the club.

The SPFL seem certain to order an enquiry into tonight’s events but since no action has been taken against Sevco for an incident in which a coin left an assistant referee bleeding and needing medical treatment their hands will be tied in terms of what they can do with Hearts.

The match ended as a goal-less draw which means that Hearts lead at the top of the table has been cut to four points ahead of their visit to second placed Celtic on Saturday.

Hibs are in joint fourth place alongside Sevco and Livingston, eight points adrift of Hearts.
