Celtic will be backed by 30,000 fans at Murrayfield on Sunday when they take on Hearts in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup.

The final tickets were sold to season ticket holders this morning with the majority of Celtic supporters preparing for a 100 mile round trip for a lunchtime kick off.

Aberdeen were the last team to take a bigger travelling support- in 2014 they took 40,000 fans to Celtic Park to see Derek McInnes’ side lift the League Cup against Inverness Caley Thistle.

Hearts are believed to have sold around 25,000 tickets meaning that Murrayfield will be close to capacity for the match between the top two teams in the country.

The match was originally scheduled for Hampden but a week after naming the venue and kick-off time the SPFL opted to move the hoops clash to the home of rugby.

Celtic’s last two SPFL matches, against Aberdeen and Hibs have been sold out with another sell out expected for the home match with Hearts on Saturday November 3.

Around 3,000 Celtic fans are expected to be in Germany on Thursday night for the Europa League tie with RB Leipzig.
