Jack Hendry has admitted that the last six months has been the most difficult period of his career.

That is some statement when you consider that he was released by Celtic as a 16-year-old, earned a move to Wigan then found himself sent out on loan and barely able to get a game in at Shrewsbury and MK Dons.

At the start of last season he got his chance at Dundee in probably the only highlight of Neil McCann’s managerial career- six months later he was a million pound plus Celtic signing.

Joining the Invincibles seemed the perfect move, working under Brendan Rodgers and breaking into a side that had just gone 69 domestic matches unbeaten.

Hendry’s appearances coincided with Celtic shipping points, supporters started to note the DDL record he had when he started matches.

At Scotland level it has been a similar story although he did play the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 victory away to Hungary last season.

It has been a tough time at club level for me personally but I always think that they make you stronger as a player and as a person,”Hendry told the Evening Times.

I am always looking for feedback on my performances whether that is from games or in training but I am always looking to improve.

It has probably been the steepest learning curve of my career over the last six months. Every touch, every pass, every move gets analysed at Celtic so that is something that I have had to learn from. I need to embrace that.

It is difficult. Sometimes you have to stay strong and it makes you a bigger and better person. It is not easy dealing with disappointments but that is when you have to stand tall.”

Hendry is expected to be on the bench on Saturday with Filip Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata starting in central defence against Hibs.
