The tragic demise of Kris Commons from a Celtic hero into another tragic media cynic is complete.

Eighteen months ago he was still on the payroll at Celtic but too much time in the company of Kris Boyd and listening in to the mystery voices in Boydies head has taken its toll.

Commons has now mastered the art of transforming a 6-0 win for Celtic into a negative! He has achieved it in record time.

With form like that there will always be a warm welcome at Radio Scotland for as long as folk pay a licence fee.

Enjoying the display of James Forrest yesterday wasn’t enough for Commons, the contract signed less than two weeks ago was already virtually meaningless.

Writing in the Daily Mail he explained:

He is 27 years old and signed a new four-year deal just a couple of weeks ago, which made it seem like he might be set to spend his whole career at Parkhead.

But, if he carries on playing like he did on Sunday, there’s no chance that will happen.

One of the big clubs in England would soon snap him up for a hefty transfer fee.

The transformation in him over the past 18 months or so has been remarkable because it seemed at one point a few years ago that he was on his way out of the club.

He was in danger of being a wasted talent, a boy for whom the penny would never drop.

Commons looked like someone different when he joined Celtic, he quickly got it and seemed a perfect fit for the club.

No Celtic fan wants subjected to the gushing praise that Derek Johnstone has offered his Ibrox paymasters down the years- while calling the shots at Ibrox Dave Murray, Craig Whyte, Charles Green and Dave King have had unwavering support from big DJ.

There is a middle ground where a former player retains respect through offering objective opinions- unfortunately too much time spent with his pal Boydy in the studio has killed off Commons’ Celtic legacy.
