Gordon Strachan is the shock favourite to become the next manager of Dundee.

The former Celtic boss started his career at Dens Park in the seventies before moving on to fame at Aberdeen, Manchester United and Leeds.

After seven defeats from eight matches Neil McCann was sacked last night with former Ross County boss Jim McIntyre quickly linked with the vacancy.

This morning there has been a rush of money placed on Strachan who was sacked by Scotland a year ago after failing to reach the World Cup play-off’s. Betting site oddschecker had Strachan down to 6/4.

The 61-year-old hasn’t ruled himself out of a return to management but has been based in England for nine years and enjoys golfing breaks at a holiday home in Spain.

Dundee are currently at the bottom of the Premiership table but are within three points of St Mirren, Hamilton and Motherwell.
