Brendan Rodgers has no pitch fears over Murrayfield today.

Normally a trip to Edinburgh involves a question mark over what damage Craig Levein has done to the pitch at Tynecastle as the failed former Scotland boss tries to steal an advantage over Celtic.

In May Rodgers totally altered Celtic’s tactics to keep the ball off the grass at Tynecastle with the champions comfortably winning 3-1.

At their AGM the SPFL refused to introduce UEFA style rules over the length of grass with most observers seeing the issue as a battle between long grass Levein and Rodgers.

Even though Murrayfield is only a Christophe Berra clearance away from Tynecastle Hearts will feel like the away side as they play on shorter grass with the pitch the same size as Hampden.

I spoke to the groundsmen when we trained there,” Rodgers told The Sun. “It would be ignorant not to talk to them, right?

I was asking them what size they thought the pitch would be — and how long the grass would be!

The pitch will be 105 metres long and 68 metres wide. That’s the same size as Hampden.

The length of the grass will be 24mm which is Uefa guidelines size and happens to be the exact same as Celtic.

Murrayfield have top ground staff, the pitch is superb.”

Celtic will be without Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths for today’s match but Tom Rogic and Filip Benkovic are expected to make the starting XI.
