James Forrest wanted Celtic to hit TEN goals against St Johnstone.

The winger contributed four goals in the 6-0 rout as the hoops bounced back to form scoring more goals than they had managed in their previous six SPFL matches.

Forrest scored four times within half an hour as Celtic destroyed the Perth side but there was one aspect of the match that disappointed him

Did we think we could have scored ten? Definitely, going into half-time I felt we had more chances in it,” he told the Daily Record. “In the last few games I feel that we have been creating more chances.

Half-time came at the wrong time for us. Once St Johnstone went down to ten men it made it harder to break them down.

The manager had told us to go out and try for more, we got one which was good and that was reward for keeping going.”

After losing 3-1 to RB Salzburg the 6-0 demolition of St Johnstone was exactly what every Celtic fan wanted to see from their team.

With Forrest and Tom Rogic in unplayable form the Saints defence was cut open at will with Zander Clark pulling off the saves to keep the score in single figures.

After a stuttering start to the season and turmoil off the park Celtic supporters will be looking forward to the match against Hibs a week on Saturday hoping that their side build on the form they displayed in Perth.
