Wolves have joined the race to sign Scott McKenna from Aberdeen.

Celtic had a bid in the region of £4m rejected in August for the defender with Aston Villa topping that price but failing to land McKenna with a bid close to the end of the summer transfer window.

Now, according to The Sun, Wolves are scouting the 21-year-old who signed a five year contract earlier this summer.

Celtic fans were underwhelmed by the interest in McKenna with most supporters relieved that Aberdeen knocked back the bid.

The defender did little to impress on Saturday and was involved in the brutal assault on Odsonne Edouard that forced the striker out of the game.

With Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic both unlikely to be at Celtic next summer Brendan Rodgers is on the look out for central defenders but if Wolves firm up their interest in McKenna it’s highly unlikely that the Scotland defender will be arriving in Glasgow.
