Jose Mourinho was an interested spectator as Dedryck Boyata helped Belgium to a 2-0 win over Iceland in the Nations League.

The Celtic defender played alongside Vincent Kompany and Toby Alderweireld on the right of a back three as Roberto Martinez’s side continued their impressive form from the World Cup Finals.

Mourinho is expected to make big changes to the Manchester United side in January with central defence a major concern as he highlighted after the home defeat from Juventus in the Champions League.

While Boyata is unlikely to be a priority his assent into the Belgian side in the final year of his Celtic contract is bound to create some interest.

Michy Batshuayi, in as a replacement for the injured Romelu Lukaku scored both goals for Belgium with former Celt Jason Denayer an 84th minute substitute for Komany.

Belgium need to avoid losing to Switzerland on Sunday to top their Nations League group, last month Martinez’s side won 2-1 at home to Switzeland.
