Filip Benkovic wants to play on Livingston’s plastic pitch.
The defender was a late call off when Celtic played at Rugby Park earlier this season and was held back from playing away to RB Leipzig due to an Achilles issue.
Livingston’s plastic pitch has come in for heavy criticism this season with players complaining about the number of black pellets on the surface.
Brendan Rodgers has a ready made replacement in Kris Ajer fit and available but if the issue is left up to Benkovic he’s looking forward to being fully involved on Sunday.
“I want to play on Sunday because it’s very important for young players to play but it will be the coach’s decision,” the on loan Leicester City defender told the Evening Times.
“I had a problem before I played on Kilmarnock’s pitch so we’ll see what happens – we’ll speak about this at training. We all work hard every day and we all support whoever is chosen to play.
“But it’s not really important where we play. If we played them in the street behind the stadium we must play in the same way we did against Leipzig because if we relax even a little bit it can kick us in the face.”
Celtic go into the final match before the winter break with a lengthy injury lost that Rodgers won’t want to see any additions to.
Having played the same team in each of their last three matches the hoops boss is likely to stick very closely to the side that beat RB Leipzig on Thursday night.
