Connor Roberts has signed a new three year contract with Swansea.

Casually being linked with a move to Celtic has worked a treat for the defender who has committed himself to the Welsh side until 2022.

With his old deal about to expire at the end of this season speculation of a move to link up with Brendan Rodgers made his situation very public.

Bringing in a right-back is clearly a transfer priority for Celtic with Mikael Lustig out of contract next summer and no significant news about a new deal for the Swede.

Roberts could have signed as a free agent but would be claiming a significant signing on fee.

At the AGM yesterday Celtic made all the right noises about investing in players in January after the board and manager expressed their frustration over business during the summer.

Signing players from the EPL or Championship clubs is an expensive business with Celtic’s targets more likely to be in Scandinavia or eastern Europe.
