Scott Brown was delighted by James Forrest’s awesome performance against Israel.

Following his double against Albania the Celtic winger went one better with a hat-trick as Scotland beat Israel 3-2 to earn a play off place in the UEFA Nations League.

Brown has been a team-mate of Forrest throughout his Celtic career and is delighted to see the winger get some recognition.

Alex McLeish left the 27-year-old out of the teams that played in the opening Nations League matches against Albania and Israel even though Forrest scored four times against St Johnstone just before Scotland’s defeat in Israel.

Since hitting the net in Perth Forrest has scored 12 goals in 11 matches with his Nations League tally of five earning him joint top place in the scoring charts across the whole of Europe.

After the international spotlight Forrest returns to club duty on Saturday when Celtic take on Hamilton- quickly followed by a vital Europa League qualifier and the first domestic cup final of the season.
