The SPFL Goal of the Season competition can be called off after Adam Hammill’s wonder goal for St Mirren in the 2-2 draw at Hibs.

Adam Hammill scored an impressive goal in the recent 2-0 win over Hearts but won’t ever score a better goal than last night’s opener at Easter Road.

Collecting the ball 10 yards inside his own half he took two touches then launched a brilliant, controlled shot from just inside his own half beyond Adam Bogdan into the net.

Often those type of goals can be speculative high efforts that drop in under the bar but Hammill’s strike was low and driven fiercely at goal leaving the keeper baffled.

St Mirren had to settle for a point despite taking the lead as Hibs extended their win-less run to seven matches.

Neil Lennon left media duties to Garry Parker with his side now languishing in eighth place, four adrift of sixth placed Aberdeen who have played a game less.

Celtic travel to Easter Road a week on Sunday kicking off a hectic fortnight where they also have away days at Pittodrie and Ibrox.
