Kieran Tierney won’t take part in training during Celtic’s stay in Dubai.
The defender hasn’t played since the Europa League defeat from RB Salzburg- sitting out Celtic’s last five matches of 2018.
Although he was listed as a substitute for the Glasgow derby there is still a question mark over his recovery from a hip injury.
“The break is also good for the injured players, but a few of them are still a little while away from full fitness,” Brendan Rodgers explained to the Celtic website.
“We’ve got Odsonne and Kieran – Kieran probably won’t train this week, but there’s a good period for him to work closely with the medical team. Odsonne will train later on in the week.
“Of course, those are quality players, which means they’re important players for us. It’s going to be very important for us to get them back as quickly as we can.”
Callum McGregor played at left-back during the Glasgow derby with Jonny Hayes and Emilio Izaguirre slotting in during the previous matches.
Calvin Miller has been recalled from his loan at Dundee but news that Tierney is still suffering from injury is bound to be a concern.
Celtic’s first match after the winter break is at home to Airdrie United/Clydebank in the Scottish Cup on January 19 which is quickly followed by three home matches in the SPFL.
