Brendan Rodgers has responded to speculation linking him with the manager’s job at Leicester, still occupied by Claude Puel.

Wednesday’s Sun and Daily Mail raised the prospect with ‘Celtic expert’ Kris Boyd eagerly biting on the yarn as he discussed the club he is obsessed by on TalkSPORT.

Rodgers has more than two years to run on his Celtic contract and is well used to fielding questions about his future.

For me, my only concentration is here at Celtic,” Leicestershire Live reported from today’s Celtic media conference.

“Leicester as we have seen over the last few years, an incredible journey that they have been on as a club and obviously the unfortunate circumstances (owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s death in a helicopter crash) that they had earlier this season.

“It is a fantastic club but for me at this moment in time my concentration is purely on Celtic and looking forward to the second part of this season.”

Despite Leicester sitting in eighth place in the EPL there has been regular speculation that Puel is on the verge of being sacked. Wins over Chelsea and Manchester City have been followed by dispiriting defeats from Newport and Southampton.

It seems that a couple of bets placed on Rodgers taking over as Leicester manager has triggered the latest speculation with Boyd on speed-dial to add ‘credibility’.

Boyd’s Kilmarnock contract expires at the end of the season with no word of a new offer from Kilmarnock or elsewhere.
