Celtic have given Brendan Rodgers permission to speak to Leicester City about their vacant managers job, according to the BBC.

News of Rodgers’ imminent departure will be a massive blow for Celtic supporters who expected that the Irishman would at least stay until the end of the season.

In May 2017 the Irishman signed a four year contract extension but since the summer transfer window there has been signs that all wasn’t well behind the scenes.

On the eve of playing AEK Athens in a Champions League qualifier Rodgers did speak out about the failure to land transfer targets with the hoops then being knocked out by the Greek side.

Rodgers was asked about the Leicester speculation before and after Sunday’s match against Motherwell but straight batted the question.

The Irishman was expected to host a media conference today for tomorrow’s match with Hearts but all plans are now up in the air as he holds talks with Leicester about a return to the English Premier League.
