Chris Sutton believes that Brendan Rodgers has as good as left Celtic with Neil Lennon lined up as his replacement!

Overnight the word out of Leicester has suggested that they want their new man in now rather than wait until the summer for Claude Puel’s successor to be appointed.

Sutton is certainly close to Lennon who has been mentioned as a possible caretaker manager for Leicester, the club that he played for before a £6m move to Celtic in 2000 to be reunited with Martin O’Neill.

Rodgers is expected to face the media later today to discuss Celtic’s match with Hearts tomorrow but the momentum of the Leicester City story will be impossible to avoid.

The Irishman joined Celtic in May 2016 on a 12 month rolling contract but a year later that was replaced by a four year deal keeping him at the club until 2021.

Most contracts do have break options with reports suggesting that Celtic would be due £6m if Rodgers was to leave.
