Mikael Lustig is hoping to play for Norway against Sweden tomorrow night.

The defender failed to last the first 45 minutes of Saturday’s win over Romania prompting doubts over whether he will be available for Sunday’s Glasgow derby.

Shaking off an injury in three days seems a tall order but Lustig isn’t writing off his prospects of facing Norway leaving just five days before his next club clash.

At first, I thought it was an ordinary thigh knock and that I could run it off but then I started to feel it and looked down to see that it was swollen,” the defender told The Sun.

I tried to play on, but the longer the game went, the more difficult it became to run. It hurts and I don’t know how long it can last. It is borderline for Tuesday, but it is clear that we will do everything to make me fit.”

Looking towards Sunday he added: “It’s a big game that I want to play in, but we will see.

“First of all, I have to get fit for Norway. That seems far away right now, but you never know.”

Lustig played as a central defender in Celtic’s 1-0 win over Dundee ahead of the international break and offers Neil Lennon cover in a couple of areas.

All of Celtic’s international defenders have a question mark over their availability for Sunday with Kieran Tierney missing out on both Scotland matches, Dedryck Boyata sitting out Belgium’s win over Cyprus due to personal reasons and Kris Ajer being substituted in the win over Dundee suffering blurred vision.

On the plus side Filip Benkovic got 20 minutes at Dundee then played 45 minutes in the closed doors match against Morton on Friday.
