Alex McLeish has dropped Craig Gordon from the Scotland squad to face Kazakhstan and San Marino next week.

At the start of this season the Celtic keeper was sharing international duties with Allan McGregor before McLeish announced the Ibrox keeper as his first choice. Yesterday, shortly after being given a two match club suspension McGregor announced his retirment from international football.

Gordon was the first choice under Gordon Strachan but after losing his club place to Scott Bain the keeper looks unlikely now to add to his 54 full international caps.

Bain has been recalled to the full international squad after being on last summer’s trip to Peru and Mexico and is joined by Jordan Archer of Millwall and Sunderland keeper Jon McLaughlin.

Ryan Christie misses out due to injury but despite missing Celtic’s last four matches Callum McGregor has been listed in the 27 man squad which also includes Lewis Morgan who is on loan from Celtic to Sunderland.
