After a week in charge of Celtic Neil Lennon is spelling out his plans for the squad that he inherited from Brendan Rodgers.

When he was appointed last week the message from the caretaker was that he was looking after the shop and mainly looking to continue the work of his predecessor.

After back-to-back wins over Hearts and Hibs Lennon is making his mark on the squad this week as he prepares for an emotional home-coming against Aberdeen and beyond.

If the caretaker takes Celtic through to a third successive treble it’s difficult to imagine him stepping down for a replacement to begin the process of rebuilding the side and preparing for European qualifiers six weeks after the Scottish Cup Final.

Giving an insight to the new boss Kris Ajer told The Sun: “I think he’s been fantastic in terms of taking care of everyone and really showing that everyone will get an opportunity here at the club.

The way he’s been talking with me, I had a really nice chat with him this week when he told me what he was thinking and what his plans were.

He did that with a few of the boys. He’s talked with a few of the players to get an understanding of them and learn more from them, and for us to learn more from him.

In any club when there’s a change of manager there’s always a bit of excitement in terms of who is going to play and who gets a chance but the manager has been fantastic for the whole squad.

He’ll give everyone an opportunity and now we have to perform in training and matches.”

With Filip Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata almost certain to be elsewhere next season Ajer, who is 21 next month, will be an essential part of next season’s defence.
