Davie Hay believes that Celtic have taken on a different manager from the Neil Lennon that quit the club in 2014.

After winning three league titles and twice reaching the group phase of the Champions League Lennon handed the reigns over to Ronny Deila who retained the title but never landed the Champions League jackpot.

Lennon found out how harsh management can be while at Bolton then brought some success to Hibs before his time at Easter Road came to an unexpected halt.

Unexpectedly he found himself back in charge of Celtic with Hay sensing a few changes in his approach although the passion remains as raw as ever as his Dens Park celebrations demonstrated.

The former Celtic boss told the Evening Times:

A few weeks back I said that I thought Scott Brown’s celebration when Celtic beat Kilmarnock at Rugby Park was a bit over the top but there is a different kind of pressure with Lennon at the minute.

In some ways, I think it was simply a reaction to the situation he is. I also think there is an element of underlining just what it means to him.

As managers, we all react differently to things. We might feel the same thing internally but some of us are more subdued than others.

I do think, too, that Lennon has that side to him.

I think he has come back to Celtic as a better manager than the one who left. I think aspects of his approach have changed and I think he has developed his managerial style.

It will be interesting to see just what happens over the next few months because I think he has proven that he is a safe pair of hands.

While half of his squad are away on international duty Lennon is working as usual at Lennoxtown with a bounce game arranged for tomorrow to increase the chances of Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham being available for the Glasgow derby on March 31.
