The intensity of failure seems to have got through to Steven Gerrard.
The rookie Ibrox boss loves to rattle off the cliches making him an easy target for impersonation but got caught up in the build up towards Sunday’s derby clash with Celtic.
One of the favoured cliches for going into a hostile atmosphere is to refer to ‘going into the lions den’ but Gerrard took that a little too literally today.
?????SG: I’ve never seen fans win a football match, it will be loud but it won’t be a lion’s den. A lion’s den is when four lions jump over a cage and you fear for your life. You have to thrive in this atmosphere. If any of my players don’t fancy it they are at the wrong club.

After four matches without a win it is looking highly unlikely that Gerrard will finish his first season in management with a trophy to show for his efforts.
Reaching the group stage of the Europa League looks like being the highpoint with fifty fans waiting to greet their heroes return from Russia to share that achievement.
On Sunday Gerrard will be without his trusty assistant Gary McAllister in the dug out with the former Motherwell midfielder nursing a sore lip at home.
McAllister was the victim of an attack in the early hours of Sunday morning while in Leeds, fortunately his wife beat the attacker off, avoiding further damage. The Ibrox number assistant required 12 stiches and had three teeth knocked out.
This seems like very bad newshttps://t.co/0x9MuWr6F6
