In terms of statements and media comments Steven Gerrard has been a big disappointment but that all changed today when the rookie Ibrox boss started to discuss lions jumping out of cages.
Apart from his opening day conspiracy comments at Aberdeen the only time that Gerrard has rated on the Pedro-meter was when he thought that £1m would be the eight figure fee for Alfredo Morelos!
Darren Farley has had an easy time impersonating the new man in charge at Ibrox but today’s outburst couldn’t have been scripted as Gerrard got carried away by manager-speak.

?????SG: I’ve never seen fans win a football match, it will be loud but it won’t be a lion’s den. A lion’s den is when four lions jump over a cage and you fear for your life. You have to thrive in this atmosphere. If any of my players don’t fancy it they are at the wrong club.

Going into the lion’s den is a frequent phrase in the world of football but the nerves of facing a Celtic side that are already 10 points clear at the top of the table proved too much for Gerrard to handle.
The next time he’ll be in front of the cameras will be with Sky Sports before kick off on Sunday, after the match he’ll have a general media conference to discuss how his side fared in front of the old Jungle.
