Almost eight years after winning his final domestic trophy Ally McCoist still can’t get over Celtic’s domestic dominance.

Since the 2010/11 SPFL title was won away at Kilmarnock the Blue Room has had to make do with the visit of various lower level trophies with the highlight being the 2016 Petrofac Cup picked up by Mark Warburton.

Across the city major trophies have racked up, since Hibs lifted the 2016 Scottish Cup every domestic trophy has made it’s way to the east end of Glasgow, to the stadium that dominates the sky line for motorists using the M74 in and out of the city.

McCoist had his chance to stop the roll of trophies towards Celtic but failed in three successive seasons with humiliating cup defeats recorded to Forfar and Falkirk along the way.

In December 2014 the two Glasgow clubs were drawn together in the semi-final of the League Cup but after welcoming the draw McCoist opted to go on gardening leave with Kenny McDowall left to hold the baby as Celtic eased to a 2-0 win on route to beating Dundee United in the final under Ronny Deila.

McCoist did pick up pundit fees from offering his expert opinion on Celtic’s Scottish Cup wins over Airdrie United and St Johnstone.
