Neil Lennon has admitted that he is concerned by Celtic’s lengthy injury list.

Midfielders Olivier Ntcham, Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic are all out at the moment alongside Filip Benkovic, Jozo Simunovic, Tony Ralston and Emilio Izaguirre.

Before picking up a calf knock in the away match with Valencia McGregor had played in more top flight matches than any player in Europe this season.

Getting a full strength side would create incredible competition for places with Lennon keen to find out the reasons why he is without so many key players.

I’m just a little bit concerned with the level of injuries we have at the moment, we have 11 out,” Lennon explained to Celtic TV. “There’s a lot of good players on the treatment table so the sooner that I can get them back in the better.”

He added: “It could be the volume of games that the players have had over the last three or four seasons. Not only European ties but they’ve won every domestic competition so they have been involved in every game possible and some of them have been away with their counties.

Eventually that takes it’s toll on players, it might be a bit of that or it might just be a bit of bad luck having a run of injuries at the same time.”

Lennon will put his injury concerns to one side to concentrate on Saturday’s match with Aberdeen as he attempts to extend the 100% domestic record in 2019.

Aberdeen were the only side to earn an away win while Brendan Rodgers was in charge but that came in the ‘dead rubber’ at the end of last season.

Celtic have beaten the Dons three times this season, all by a single goal with Scott Sinclair contributing four of the six goals.
