Looking on from a distance Scott Bain thought it was easy for Celtic to win every match.

The Invincible season gave that idea credibility as the hoops completed the season with 34 wins and four draws, winning the two cup competitions without requiring extra time.

Midway through the following season a fall out with Neil McCann allowed Bain to get closer even though he was only signed as third choice keeper.

Life as a number three changed last March when the former Alloa keeper was thrown in to his Celtic debut at Ibrox. Ninety minutes later he had his place in folklore with the last 13 months giving him a unique insight into the demands on his team mates.

In The Sun Bain explained:

What these boys have achieved in the past is special. It’s not normal to go through seasons unbeaten and to win everything. I remember watching the Invincibles season and thinking Celtic probably should be winning every game.

But coming here, and seeing the level of performance needed to do that, is just unbelievable.

Teams can be bottom of the league and they come here and raise their game. Everyone wants to take your scalp.

They want to be the ones to beat Celtic. I now know how difficult it is to be in this environment. For us now it’s a case of can we keep it going on Sunday.

With Craig Gordon still out injured Dorus de Vries will be on the bench for Celtic tomorrow against Aberdeen in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.
