Ryan Kent has lost his appeal against the two match ban he was offered for punching Scott Brown but the SFA haven’t added to the punishment for a frivolous appeal.

Shortly after James Forrest scored Celtic’s decisive goal in Sunday’s Glasgow derby the on loan Liverpool winger punched Scott Brown to the ground.

The incident was missed by all four match officials despite occurring in the centre circle with Kent allowed to continue unpunished.

On Tuesday the SFA Compliance Officer offered a two match suspension which was dispute by the club allowing Kent to play in last night’s 3-0 win over Hearts.

Steven Gerrard explained the grounds for making an appeal but after a hearing at Hampden today The Sun reports:

The Ibrox club appealed the decision from the disciplinary panel to offer Kent a two-match ban.

But this has failed and he will miss this weekend’s trip to Fir Park and the first game after the split.

Separately Scott Brown has been charged with failing to act in the best interests of Association Football, none of the half dozen Ibrox players that confronted him at the final whistle have been charged.
