The odds on Jose Mourinho becoming the next permanent manager of Celtic have been cut from 66/1 to 20/1.

A clearly photo-shopped image of the former Manchester United boss in talks with Peter Lawwell seems to have sparked the change which no doubt attracted a couple of speculative bets placed with Paddy Power.

For all the trophies that he has won for Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan Mourinho will always be known in Celtic circles as the manager of Porto in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.

Martin O’Neill’s side found themselves up against a side that took gamesmanship to the extremes to deny Henrik Larsson the winners medal that he deserved.

Twelve months later Porto won the Champions League with Mourinho moving on to Chelsea where he cultured the image of ‘the Special One’.

Since picking up a £19m pay off from Manchester United in December Mourinho has been linked with taking over at Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain and most recently at Lyon.

On Monday morning Neil Lennon was the 11/10 favourite to manage Celtic in the first league match of the 2019/20 season.
