Paranoid Steven Gerrard has claimed that Aberdeen only use their A Game when they play his own team.

Derek McInnes takes his side to Ibrox on Sunday looking for their fourth Glasgow win of the season and the chance to breath fresh life into the battle for second place.

In six clashes so far this season Gerrard has only enjoyed one win over Aberdeen with the Dons enjoying two cup wins as well as a 1-0 victory at Ibrox in December against the then league leaders.

Paranoia kicks in at 30 seconds!

Back in August after his first SPFL match Gerrard claimed that his club were a class above Aberdeen but eight months later he has changed his tune.

“Aberdeen play different against Rangers,” the rookie Ibrox boss told the Daily Record. “That’s what I’ve noticed. They certainly raise their game. It seems as if Rangers is their biggest game of the season. We’re fully expecting a very tough game, so we’ll have to be at it.

“Do they try harder against Rangers? That’s the way it looks on the eye. We watched them last week against Celtic and they never laid a finger on Celtic in the semi-final.

Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic would certainly dispute that last claim with both players on the end of brutal attacks from Aberdeen players in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

Last season Graeme Murty took 10 points out of 12 from Aberdeen, had Gerrard matched the record of the former Reading utility man the two Glasgow clubs would be in joint top place this weekend.
