With a new contender emerging on a daily basis to become Celtic manager some hoops fans have began to speculate that Tiger Woods could be in the home dug out next season.
Why? Well it seems that a connection to Dermot Desmond and a liking for golf are the main criteria to set off a run of speculative £5 bets to send the odds tumbling. Celtic’s largest shareholder has been responsible for the appointment of the club’s most successful managers in recent times, bringing in Martin O’Neill, Gordon Strachan and Brendan Rodgers.
Already this week there have been stories created by falling odds on Andres Vilas-Boas, Roberto Martinez and Michael O’Neil.
The odds on Marco Rose have almost disappeared with Borussia Monchengladbach the likely next stop for the current boss of RB Salzburg.
Neil Lennon did get some support today but that came from his former Celtic assistant Johan Mjallby who was promoting the Scottish Cup semi-finals at Hampden.
Despite busts of interest in other candidates Lennon remains the strong favourite to get the job on a permanent basis.
If Celtic overcome Aberdeen on Sunday Lennon will remain as caretaker until May 25 with the first competitive game of next season arriving on July 9 or 10.
