Derek Johnstone came under fire from Celtic fans tonight after going a step too far with his criticism of Scott Brown.
The former Ibrox striker was alongside Hugh Keevins on the popular phone in programme, making his first appearance since Sunday’s Glasgow derby.
Earlier in the day Neil Lennon spoke out against the media pressure that had pushed the SFA into a bizarre charge of ‘not acting in the best interests of Association Football’ while elsewhere it has been claimed that Celtic’s legal representatives have contacted TalkSPORT about content broadcast this week.
@ClydeSSB We know you need controversial opinions to keep ratings but how long will you continue to give a platform to Derek Johnstone on your shows? https://t.co/tp8fb6Bq4N

Surely tonight is the final straw for Derek Johnstone on @ClydeSSB. The incoherent ramblings and lies of a bitter old bigot. The very man who cried “Neil Lennon is kicking out” as he was being assaulted at Tynecastle.

Derek Johnstone’s comments tonight are nothing short of disgraceful. He needs to reveal sources because allegations like that can’t be just made up and reported as facts

@ClydeSSB I normally listen to the show with a fair mind but Derek Johnstone has been absolutely disgraceful tonight, even Gordon Duncan sounds embarrassed by some of his nonsense, I appreciate he is a Rangers man and is hurting but he is bordering on bitterness tonight!!

Criticism of Brown and defence of all matters Ibrox was to be expected from Johnstone but in the case of Ryan Kent’s attack on the Celtic skipper the Radio Clyde pundit took a particularly sinister line.
I won’t repeat his claim against Scott Brown but it won’t be difficult to find out about it across twitter. It’ll be interesting to see if it is edited out of the podcast that will appear on the Radio Clyde website.
Celtic appear to have a healthy relationship with the Clydebank based broadcaster, an apology or distancing themselves from the unsubstantiated comments of their in-house Ibrox ambassador will do their credibility no harm.
