Jonny Hayes has revealed that Celtic’s Treble Treble stars will get a 10 days break before they start to prepare for next season.

The former Aberdeen winger won’t be involved in international football and will be able to put his feet up as James Forrest, Callum McGregor and others switch their focus to Scotland duty.

Celtic will be back in training for a week before they take on Pinkfeld on June 26 with the first Champions League qualifier just a fortnight later.

The Treble Treble season started in Armenia on July 10 with the intensity to qualify for the Champions League soon followed by Europa League matches and the pressure to retain three domestic trophies.

Looking back at the adventures of the last 11 months and the change of management Hayes told The Sun:

The way we’ve trained has been identical to the successful methods established by Brendan Rodgers.

Neil has picked up where Brendan left off. I’ve loads of Celtic fans in my family, and they weren’t too pleased when Brendan moved to Leicester — but he still deserves a huge amount of credit for what he built here.

The new gaffer’s continued with that so any blame for the fact we’ve not been winning games 3-0 or 4-0 can be put down to the fact that some players, like Kieran Tierney, Callum McGregor and James Forrest, have been playing non-stop for three years.

Most of us get three weeks off then we’re back in for pre-season training and Champions League qualifiers. It’s a big task, and especially towards the end of each season, fatigue shows.

We’re not robots. People think because we win trophy after trophy you can just go out and pummel Livingston, who we got stick for not beating when we drew 0-0 but you just can’t hammer teams every week.

We’re up against tough opponents and other teams adapt to how we play. But we’ve a good squad, and we’ve needed it because we’ve had a lot of injuries. However, we have a small break now, and we’ll hopefully pick up where we left off once we come back refreshed.

We’ll have seven to ten days of complete rest before we start working to the programme we’re given by the club to build ourselves up for the European ties in six weeks.

The draw for the first two qualifying rounds of the Champions League takes place of June 18 with Celtic seeded in each round.
