Celtic have been linked with a move for Alberth Elis.

According to a report in The Sun the Houston Dynamo forward has been the subject of conversations with his international team-mate Emilio Izaguirre.

Elis has scored four goals in eight appearances this season with the link following up Celtic’s recent interest in the American market with Manny Perez and Andrew Gutman signed during the January transfer window.

“Celtic have asked me about a few players from Honduras,” Izaguirre told The Sun.

“They’ve asked me several times about Elis. Who knows? Maybe one day they will sign players from Honduras like me. Honduras has some very good players, but the professional part of things is sometimes missing.

“Here at Celtic, here you have to forget everything else and be a professional for 24/7 and when you play in matches, you give everything.”

Celtic do have a worldwide recruitment network which has an emphasis on younger emerging talents such as Maryan Shved from the Ukraine.

With the wages inflation of the English market spilling across Europe it is becoming harder and more expensive to uncover the next Victor Wanyama or Virgil van Dijk.

Elis has scored nine times in 21 full appearances for Honduras but with regular international tournaments each summer his availability for Celtic’s European qualifiers could be an obstacle to any potential transfer.
