Celtic’s ‘forgotten heroes’ of 1979 got together in Glasgow last night to recall one of the greatest wins in the club’s history.
Stephen Murray did the players justice in ‘Ten Men Won The League’ which was published a couple of years ago.
Every decade tends to throw up a glorious match or occasion from the 7-1 game of the fifties, the Lisbon Lions, the Centenary Double winners and the Seville side.
Slipping slightly under the radar is the 4-2 team that won the league title on the last day of the 78/79 season, amazingly there was no television coverage of the match or radio commentary.

Last night a retro twitter account recreated some of the glory that was missed due to a strike by STV technicians with Monday nights too awkward for the BBC to cover.
The cold facts are that goals from Roy Aitken, George McCluskey, a Colin Jackson own goal and last gasp strike from Murdo MacLeod turned the match around after John Doyle had been sent off with Celtic trailing 1-0.
With Billy McNeill in charge and Bobby Lennox on the bench there were a couple of obvious links to Lisbon with that Monday night rated by many who witnessed it as the second greatest night in the club’s history.
Remember the 4-2 game in 1979 when 10 men won the league ? Heard your Dad/Granda talking of thay great event? With Christmas coming why not buy the book that tells the entire story in full.
